Who doesn’t appreciate open-source tools? Here at Practical Physical Exploitation (PPE), we certainly do! In celebration of the successful launch of the PPE Store, we’re thrilled to unveil our latest creation: the PPE c02 REX Sensor Bypass Gun. While you can acquire the CO2 gun from the PPE Store or directly from Amazon, we’re excited to offer the files for 3D printing the Schrader Valve to Aerosol Tube nozzle as a complimentary download on GitHub.

Why?

While the concept of using a CO2 Bike Inflator to bypass REX sensors isn’t new, we’ve conducted extensive field testing to develop our own variant, prioritizing safety and reliability. We’ve opted for the Genuine Innovations G20310 as our primary platform for several compelling reasons:

  1. Utilization of a traditional index-finger trigger with a thumb-activated safety mechanism.
  2. Genuine Innovations offers threadless replacement cartridges for swift installation (though threaded cartridges work just as effectively).
  3. Its robust shell design facilitates the storage of cartridges upside-down, minimizing waste while ensuring readiness at all times.

Design Process

How did we transform the Genuine Innovations G20310 into an air cannon? It all began with referencing a Schrader Valve datasheet to determine the threading specifications. With Fusion 360 as our tool of choice, we embarked on multiple iterations, culminating in the creation of the following 3D model:

Key Features of the Design:

  • The threaded end incorporates a 5mm, 90-degree chamfer in the channel, facilitating the safe passage of compressed air through the aerosol tubing, preventing leaks or excessive pressure.
  • A 2.75mm channel stop prevents over-insertion of the 3mm aerosol tube, ensuring optimal airflow and safety.
  • The knurled base provides enhanced grip for seamless installation and removal of the adapter.
  • For added convenience, a flathead screwdriver slot on the front-end ensures effortless installation and removal.

How to Use

Install the schrader to aerosol tip and tubing. Connect a 16g or 20g c02 cartridge and rotate the gun upside-down. Slide the aerosol tube through a crack in the door, disable the safety, aim it towards the REX sensor, pull the trigger and Bob’s your uncle…
