Wiring Guide

This guide is considered deprecated as of April 20, 2025, as we no longer manufacture the Doppelganger Breakout Board. Reference this link for the instructions on wiring the Doppelganger RFID Dev Board.

Doppelganger Breakout Board

The Doppelganger Breakout Board is the recommended way to get Doppelganger RFID up and running on your HID MaxiProx or iCLASS R90SE reader.

  1. It reduces wiring and the margin of human error greatly
  2. It enables the use of a single power source to power the reader and Doppelganger
  3. It allows for a stable installation with air passthrough above and below electronic components

We recommend using 22 AWG Solid Wire for connections between the Doppelganger Breakout Board and your reader. Additionally, we recommend using a system to tie down your power cable to prevent unintentional damage from pulled cabling. An adhesive-backed zip-tie mount will work.

Warning: While the Doppelganger Breakout Board states that the maximum input voltage is 15V, you can supply up to 28VDC ONLY IF YOU USE ACTIVE COOLING on the LDO (chip indicated by the HOT symbol). Additionally, the power input is a passthrough circuit. This means that whatever voltage you supply to the Doppelganger Breakout Board will be passed through to your reader. Ensure that your reader is rated for the voltage that you intend to supply. Do this at your own risk!
